Project Information
Singlegate Primary School in London invited Natural Play to re-design their existing school play facilities as they were well played on and worn out. The school was already reflecting its location to a main tube station within their existing kit, Natural Play took that one step further and designed in a play system for them based on a tube train and tube train map, taking them on a trip around London.
The children could buy their tickets at the play ticket office, take an off the ground trail through the tube stations leading to the actual school itself, then take a ride on a large tube train play structure. Surrounding this was additional trail activities such as wobble bridges, timber stepping trees and balance beams. The existing buggy and bike track was removed and covered with a new wet pour map of the London underground station in bright vivid colours, so that the children could buggy their way around the map.
In addition to the London underground themed play was a new trim trail installation making use of some unused and uneven ground. Natural Play brought in the diggers and levelled the area, built a new and exciting trim trail and finished with a bright blue mulch safety surface.
The final part of this project was to build a new sports court, we used bright blue sports grass to create a great impact and built two ball walls, which included cricket wickets, a football goal and a basketball hoop.
This was phase one of working with the great staff at Singlegate Primary, phase two will be on its way soon, so watch this space!
